As some of you may know, Google is offering free 2.5 gigabyte e-mail accounts (Gmail). But you cannot just sign up for them, you need an invitation from another Gmail user. Well, I have 19 invitations to give out (and should get more in the future), and I'd like to offer them to other examiners.I have found Gmail to be very useful not just for e-mail while on the road, but also for conveniently storing large files. For example, by storing my PowerPoint and other files in my Gmail account, I have a backup that's available (almost) everywhere I go. If you would like to receive a Gmail invite, please post your e-mail address here or send an e-mail to polyops.oconus@gmail.com. ------------------ John 8:32

I'm not sure if this is a confidentiality issue, but google sniffs email for targeted advertising. They say its confidential but I don't think this is acceptable for any professional subject to HIPPA requirements. Most polygraph examiners are not, but we may have other agency or professional regulations regarding confidential electronic communications.I have about 100 invites if people want. r [This message has been edited by rnelson (edited 09-29-2005).] IP: Logged |

There's no confidentiality issue about using Gmail. They're governed by the same privacy laws as any other e-mail provider, and can't go reading your e-mail or releasing it to third parties. Just don't use it to send anything classified, as with any private e-mail.------------------ John 8:32

It is probably a good deal but check with your department first. Ours made us stop using all outside e-mail sources (I used to use "hot mail") due to virus's and other bad things.I think George got me with a virus on an e-mail through hot mail. Jack ------------------

Ted,Did you receive the invite I sent you? If not, it may have been caught by your office's spam filter. If you did not receive it, I'll be happy to send another one to an alternative e-mail address. ------------------ John 8:32
